Mehran Iqbal flying high after winning Reed Accountancy and PQ Magazine's 'things to do before I qualify' competition.

Mehran Iqbal, a 22 year old, part-qualified accountant from Greenford in Middlesex has won Reed Accountancy's and PQ magazine's 'Things to do before I qualify' competition, which invited PQ readers to apply for the chance of winning a 'once in a life time' experience that they could enjoy before they qualify as Accountants. The competition will run throughout the year so other part-qualified Accountants will have the chance to win their dream experiences.

Mehran's inspirational entry, where he talked about his long held dream of flying a helicopter after watching the TV show 'Airwolf' as a child, was chosen out of the all the entrants. On 19th April 2008, Mehran's dream came true when he flew a Robinson R22 Helicopter at 1800ft from Elstree Aerodrome to Enfield and back again. The Helicopter trial lesson not only enabled Mehran to experience the thrill of flying but will also count as the first step towards his Private Pilot's licence.

Mehran says, "Flying a chopper was a real ambition of mine and something that I really wanted to accomplish before becoming qualified. As I look at the cover of this month's PQ Magazine, I have a smile on my face reading the title 'Dreams can come true'… I experienced firsthand that dreams do indeed come true, thanks to Reed Accountancy and PQ magazine. It was a thrilling experience and one that I won't be able to forget all my life."

"I have previously taken part in a couple of Reed sponsored cricket tournaments in Sunbury, which takes place every summer and I did really enjoy that as well. I guess Reed is one lucky recruitment firm for me," he added.

Mehran was presented on the day with his 'dream prize' and an Airwolf DVD box set by Douglas Greer, branch manager of St Albans Accountancy. Douglas commented that "Becoming qualified as an accountant takes a lot of time, commitment and hard work. Together with PQ Magazine, we wanted to reward part-qualified accountants with an inspirational competition that would enable them to experience a once in a lifetime opportunity before they qualified. We are delighted that we could help Mehran fulfil his ambitions and look forward to enabling others to fulfil their dream experiences later this year."
